10 FACTS ABOUT MORTEN FROST

Morten Frost Hansen.

1. Born in 1958, Frost started to play badminton at the age of eight.

2. In 1978, Frost won his first Danish national title after beating 1975 All England champion, Svend Pri and reigning World Champion Flemming Delfs.

3. In Denmark, while playing for Hvidovre Club, Prakash Padukone and Frost practised together and became friends. Eventually the Dane’s game was influenced by the touch-play of the Indian.

4. Frost had represented Denmark from 1976 to 1991 longer than anyone else.

5. The All England was HIS scene in the 1980’s. The Dane reached eight consecutive All England finals from 1982-1989, and won half of them (1982, 1984, 1986, and 1987).

4x All England men's singles champion.

6. Frost has won practically everything worth winning except a World Championship. He reached the final twice but lost both times in 1985 and 1987. Frost is considered by many to be a World Champion despite never winning that title.

7. Frost spent twelve years in the world’s top three ranking, with seven of those years as the world's No.1 player.

8. After his retirement in 1991, Frost became Director of Performance for Badminton Denmark, and also coaches in Malaysia and South Africa. He has been appointed Badminton Association of Malaysia’s national technical director from 2015 to 2020.
